FOSS/2 Read.Me file

Finally the time is here for a new non-ßeta release of FOSS/2. The system is now very stable and can yet again be released as a non-ßeta version. The documentation are not completed yet but will be improved every day now and can be found at my WEB-pages (http://129.241.19.20/terje/).

All version of OS/2 Warp does include the IBM WebExplorer (you should have v1.03 or newer) which may be used to view these pages both locally and on the "Net".

This will happend to FOSS in the feature:

Ported to 32-bit code and multithreaded (FOSS is currently 16-bit only).
Internal QWK and SOUP support (Herv� Lefebvre has written external QWK support today).
Automatic software upgrade via FrogNet.
Graphical SysOp administration tools.
Tree-based area structure.
And WebFOSS will go ßeta (Yeah, http-access to FOSS).

These are only the large new features which will be implemented in FOSS, there a lot of smaller improvments to be done also.

Please continue to send suggestions for new features and bug reports.

When installing a new version of FOSS on your old system, you should allways unpack the .ZIP-package in a separate directory and copy all changed files from this directory into your current FOSS directory. You should not copy bulletins and scripts which have be modified by you.

You should also browse through your complete system configuration for errors which may be due to change in internal data formats. Also, if you find errors that you can not correct there is a chance that these errors will correct themselves over time.

Last but also very important, read the bulletin with the overview of system changes.
